Preschool and Daycare Curriculum

Our primary goal at Mad Brook Academy is to provide a learning environment where every child will feel
loved, secure, and successful.  The curriculum is therefore designed to provide many opportunities for interactions with both the teachers and peers, or, classroom "friends".  Cooperative interactions are promoted by positive reinforcement as children learn to become "good" friends.  Language development becomes a primary focus as teachers assist children to become better communicators with their friends.

The daily curriculum provides for both individualized and group activities, either child directed or teacher directed.
Our goal is the promotion of social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development in order to provide a strong foundation for your child's educational future.

Daily Activities:
  • Circle Time - to develop language, sharing of thoughts, listening skills, academic skills through group games
  • Music - to develop rhythm, gross motor skills, an appreciation for music, prediction skills
  • Center Time - to develop creativity with materials, problem solving and pre-academic skills, fine motor skills
  • Story Time - developing listening skills, vocabulary, comprehension and prediction skills, an enjoyment of books
  • Science - developing observation, reasoning, comparative and predictive skills

  • Indoor/Outdoor Play Time - developing cooperative social skills, providing opportunities for role playing,     developing gross motor skills, providing opportunities for self expression, creativity, and problem solving.

We have been very pleased with our experience at Mad Brook.  Our son has attended for 2 1/2 years.  He especially
likes the outdoor space ( playground sets, sandbox, fields, rock area, etc. ) which they use all seasons.  He has also
felt very comfortable there and the whole family has been welcomed.

Mad Brook Academy has been a wonderful environment for my children to begin school.  The teachers have done an
exceptional job of teaching my kids everything they needed to be ready for kindergarten, both academically and socially.
In addition, all of the hands-on experiences, such as pond walks, hay rides, exploring and observing the outdoors, fish
and other living creatures and so much more, have showed my kids how much fun learning can be and made them eager
to learn everyday, both in and out of the classroom.

Just wanted you to know that when I told Eli school was closed on Friday he was bummed!  It was cute--he said, "Oh man!
School is my most favorite place!"

Dear Mad Brook Academy,
We wanted to express our gratitude for all you do for our son.  Mad Brook Academy has truly fostered his interest in learning
and created a solid educational foundation upon which he will grow.  We feel fortunate to be able to say that he is happy to
get up and go to school in the morning.  He learns, plays, and is full of smiles when we pick him up.  We appreciate the
genuine care and concern that all the teachers have for the children.  We are glad that we were able to find such an excellent
pre-school to start our son's educational journey.
With many thanks,

Michael and Meg Cloutier
